Six Nations

Project Description

This manufacturing facility was running three buildings — A, B, and C — on an aging pole-mounted transformer bank: three 100 kVA units delivering 600V 3-phase 4-wire at just 300A. Production growth had outpaced the service. Seoul Electric managed the complete upgrade to a 900A service: the Hydro application, ESA plan review and permits, the design and installation of a new ground-level 1,000 kVA pad-mounted transformer with new service and branch distribution, and the final cutover from the old transformer bank — all coordinated so the facility kept operating on its existing lines.

Scope of Work

  • Utility application — applied to Hydro to upgrade the existing 600V 3-phase service from 300A to 900A
  • ESA approvals — submitted plan review and obtained permits for the new service design
  • Transformer design & installation — engineered and installed a ground-level 1,000 kVA pad-mounted transformer per the Hydro-approved design
  • Service & branch distribution — installed a Siemens 1,200A service disconnect fused at 900A, with branch disconnects of 2 × 400A and 1 × 600A
  • Building feeds — 400A to Building A; 400A and 600A lines to Building C; 100A feed from Building C to Building B
  • Cutover & demolition — after ESA inspection, removed the old 100 kVA three-bank pole transformers and connected the new 1,000 kVA pad transformer to the existing building lines

Benefits to Client

  • Three times the service capacity — 300A to 900A — with headroom for future production growth
  • One contractor handling everything: Hydro application, ESA permits, design, installation, and cutover
  • A clean, planned transition — the new transformer was energized and the old bank removed with existing lines preserved
  • Modern pad-mounted equipment at ground level, safer and easier to service than aging pole-mounted units
